I am a driven individual that is passionate about the arts and has a love for dance.  Though my experience in dance didn't come till my early 20's, when I found Zumba and the dance fitness classes I knew I had found my calling. 

 

Before I became a dance fitness instructer, I was a care provider for children and people with special needs.  They were both very rewarding jobs, as I loved getting to know people and helping in any way that I could.  From taking care of little ones while parents had to work, to helping my special needs clients live a regular life style by taking them to their jobs and assisting them through it, or taking them out for food or an event and being a friend.  I always felt very blessed to have a part in all of these peoples lives and learned a lot from these experiences. 

 

But, When I found Zumba I knew that my passion for dance and love for people would be united in this new adventure.  Since then I have met more wonderful people who bless me daily by coming to classes and sharing with me their health goals and allowing me to be their support.  I have also met other fabulous instructors who share a similar passion for the field and work closely with a team that help provide my studio with great passion for healthy living and compassion for the people who enter our doors.

I have always appreciated the positive feeling (the "high") that comes from completing a great workout. For over 10 years I achieved that sense of accomplishment by running. I have completed nine full 26.2 mile marathons, including the 2009 Boston Marathon, and one 50K ultra marathon. I have also completed several half marathons and shorter races. Desperately needing a change of pace, I discovered PiYo--the rest is history! PiYo is a total body workout that focuses on flexibility, cardio, and strength. It is high-intensity but LOW-IMPACT...it feels so awesome to get such a great workout and be dripping with sweat without straining my joints.

 

I have fallen in love with teaching PiYo because people experience successes quite quickly. Strength and flexibility increase and muscles become more toned. It is so inspiring to see someone be able to do a full tricep pushup for the first time, or to be able to go a bit deeper into a stretch than they were previously able to. Experiencing the workout as a group is quite addictive!

   My passion for music, dance, & performing arts is indescribable. I grew up dancing (in both classes & a competitive Dance Team) which turned into coaching a middle school dance squad after I graduated high school until I was in a car accident that made dancing (& acting) physically painful & difficult – my heart was broken. I gave it up for almost 10 years, but always missed it until I discovered Zumba.

 

My heart was whole again! Working with Jenny I got myself stronger & on the path to becoming an instructor. When I hit the studio floor & that music comes on that passion emanates from every bit of my soul… I get lost in the music & the fun – I want everyone to have that same experience at a Zumba class!! In my 9-5 job I’m a Medical & Dental Insurance Specialist (sounds fun, huh?), but I’m also a health & fitness coach on the side. I’m licensed in regular Zumba and also Zumba Gold. My focus is to help people reach their goals & get healthier in whatever ways I can help. I love hitting the floor with EVERY participant, but am determined to help people like me get moving & motivated again – the beginners, the injured, and the overweight.

 

I myself came from the injured & overweight categories and I’m working on both daily!! I have a strong philosophy that getting (& staying) healthy is a daily journey/struggle so you might as well make it as fun as possible, right?!
